Do You Like Them or Just the Attention?

When I first joined Soudfa, I was excited and a little overwhelmed. Every match, like, and message felt like a sign. I thought: maybe this is it. Maybe this is how love starts. But after a few conversations, I noticed something… I wasn’t always interested in the person. I was just enjoying the feeling of being wanted.
That was a hard truth to face. But it changed the way I approach dating now.
It’s okay to enjoy attention
We’re human. Getting a compliment or a message from someone nice can brighten your day. I’ve felt that. It makes you feel seen and valued. But over time, I had to ask myself: Am I drawn to this person… or just the attention they give me?
That question helped me stop confusing emotional excitement with real connection.
🧠 Don’t confuse effort with connection
Some people write long, sweet messages. They seem perfect on paper. But that doesn’t mean we’re actually aligned. Now, I look beyond words. Do they share my values? Do I feel at peace in the conversation? Or am I just trying to keep it going because they’re into me?
I’ve learned that when something is real, it feels calm, not rushed or pressured.
⏳ Attention fades — connection stays
The truth is, attention can be exciting but short-lived. What lasts is connection. Real interest. Respect. If someone stopped showering me with compliments, would I still want to talk to them? That question helped me recognize who was worth my time and who just made me feel special for a moment.
🌿 You are more than who notices you
This one took time. But I’ve stopped measuring my value by who messages me or how many likes I get. The right person won’t just notice your profile. They’ll notice your heart. That kind of attention feels different. It feels real.
If you’re on this journey too, I hope you give yourself space to enjoy the process without losing your sense of self. The love that’s meant for you won’t confuse you. It won’t just flatter you. It will feel like peace and you’ll know it when you find it.
